Checkout Hours (Spring 2026)
Checkout durations are for 48 hours or over the weekend. Reservations must be made before midnight the night before your desired checkout.

Monday: 10am - 3pm

Tuesdays: CLOSED

Wednesday: 10am - 3pm

Thursday: 10am - 3pm

Friday: 10am - 3pm

Any requests for prolonged rentals or appointments outside of normal hours must be made well in advance.

Welcome to Spring 2026!

The Checkout Room will be closed on:

  • MLK Jr. Day - Monday, Jan. 19 
  • Well-Being Day - Monday, Feb. 9
  • Spring Break - Mar. 15-20
  • Well-Being Day - Thursday, April 2
  • University Holiday - Friday, April 3

Last Day of Checkout - Friday, May 1st

Last Day of Returns - Monday, May 4th

Lab closes for the semester - Thursday, May 7th @ 5pm

The Media Art Space remains open 24/7 by OneCard access until it closes for the semester.

Important dates to keep in mind:

  • Last Day for Late Registration - Jan. 13
  • LDOC - April 27

 

Policies

Equipment Checkout Policies

Equipment Usage Procedure: 

  • Equipment reservations must be made in advance at https://connect2.oasis.unc.edu/ and are time sensitive.
  • During the week, equipment can be booked for up to 48 hours. Over the weekend, gear can be kept for up to 72 hours.

Equipment Checkout 

  • Reservations must be made before midnight prior to day of checkout.
  • Pick-ups missed by more than 30 minutes will result in cancellation of booking and Violation.
  • Returns missed by more than 30 minutes will result in Violation and require immediate correspondence to the MAS Director or Media Tech. If no contact is made within 24 hours, MAS Staff will contact the authorities.
  • OneCard is required at checkout.
  • If equipment is lost or damaged while in a student’s possession, the student must notify the Director or Media Tech prior to return, by emailing equipment@unc.edu or calling (919) 962-0455. Failure to report loss or damage to equipment will result in Violation.

Room Reservation 

  • Room reservations be made 24 hours in advance.
  • Reservations for weekends or breaks must be made by noon on the last business day before the weekend or break.

To use equipment provided by MAS you must be currently enrolled in a MAS Media Production course and have submitted an Equipment Usage Agreement.
